Fall…no Winter…no Fall…Winter!

The other day was American Thanksgiving.  I made green bean casserole, dinner rolls and deviled eggs. We joined 65 others at the coffee shop, both Chinese staff and foreign friends, for a feast. Somehow I wish it would snow.

Wuhan is known for it’s disregard for the seasons. It usually moves from Indian summer straight into winter around here. I miss seeing the changing of the leaves. Last year everything stayed green through the whole winter and then in the spring all the leaves just fell off the trees; brown and dead!  What was that?!

Just when I thought fall would allude me again I stepped on this.

Now I can start getting ready for Christmas!

  1. “Last year everything stayed green through the whole winter and then in the spring all the leaves just fell off the trees; brown and dead! What was that?!” Very funny. Your following comments are funny too. I gotta a good laugh from this. God bless you Cathy.

  2. HA! I know how you feel about the leaves. When I was in Japan a few weeks ago it became a standard joke that “Ooops==there’s a tree with red leaves so Carol will need to take a picture of it.

Had a lovely Thanksgiving feast twice. First with the Symanzik’s and their standard “singles” supper for us and then with Tom and Judy Coombs the next night. We even had the green bean casserole but it had onion and sour cream potato chips crumpled over the top since of course we can’t get the fried onions here. It was an acceptable substitute.

I got up the tree yesterday but decided I need more lights so that is as far as it got. Bottom half with lights, nothing on the top. Since I am NOT motivated to go to the mall on the weekend, it is going to stay that way until tomorrow night when I pick up some lights after paying my rent. Hmph. I did get up the other Christmas decorations, including the advent calendar you gave me years ago. Fond memories.

Blessings on your day! Prayer letter will be coming out soon. Can I send it to this address?

    Carol
